Events of January-April 2020
Hi there.
Several people asked me if I had abandoned the project because the news had been appearing very rarely. Responding to everyone at once: no, we are still working hard on the project, maintaining its functionality, and developing new features. A lot is still being done under the hood, but you might have noticed something in the game already.
Return of Skins Proxying 2!
About a year ago we had attempted to launch a new mechanism of Mojang's textures proxying. Unfortunately, soon after Mojang tightened the limits for working with their APIs so that the then-existing implementation stopped working. We've been searching for a solution for a long time; implementing it took even longer; testing it took almost infinity... But since May 1 the updated system have been working for all Ely.by users!
Thanks to this feature, you will see more players with skins on servers, since players who don't have an Ely.by account will be displayed with the textures of their licensed namesake.
Refreshed logic for displaying textures in the game
In addition to skins proxying, we've also updated the logic of our patched Authlib to make it more compatible with widely used plugins for displaying skins on servers (like SkinsRestorer).
The updated algorithm looks like this:
1) If textures are obtained from the Ely.by (e.g. from the server skins system plugin), then they will be used.
2) If there is a skin in the provided profile, then these skin will be used (for example, skin that have been assigned via /skin
command).
3) In any other case, textures will be requested from the Ely.by.
Thanks to this logic, the skins installed via the SkinsRestorer plugin will be displayed without Ely.by's intervention, while the rest will use textures from our server.
If you use the TL Launcher, the update will apply automatically. If you installed the skins system manually, then you need to re-install it by downloading the latest version from the download page.
Other changes:
The Mojang Signatures Crawler was rewritten from scratch and put into production. Thanks to this, the time required from uploading the skins to the Ely.by catalog to the possibility of displaying them through the server skin system plugin should be reduced. Also more than 50 000 skins (which were mistakenly marked as inaccessible to obtain the signature) have been re-indexed.
A patch for snapshots of the upcoming Minecraft 1.16 have been added on the download page.
Translations have been updated.
See you later.
cool epic my guy
